Pregnancy Q & A

What pregnancy services are available?

For moms-to-be, a variety of services are available to monitor your health and the growth and development of your baby throughout the nine months of your pregnancy.

The board-certified obstetricians offer comprehensive services for pregnancy — whether it’s your first baby or the next family addition. The Complete Healthcare for Women team also offers experienced care if you’ve previously had a Cesarean section. They also offer pregnancy services that include :

  • Prenatal care
  • Routine checkups
  • Labor and delivery
  • High-risk pregnancy care
  • Postpartum follow-up
  • Evaluation and treatment for postpartum depression

The team also provides evaluation and counseling services for women facing fertility issues.

For male newborns, the team also performs circumcision either in the hospital shortly after birth or in the office within the baby’s first week of age.

What is a high-risk pregnancy?

A high-risk pregnancy often results from underlying medical conditions that affect your health.  For example, women over the age of 35 are considered high-risk due to the possible complications for mother and baby that come with pregnancy in later years.

Health conditions that can make your pregnancy high-risk include:

  • Kidney disease
  • Thyroid disorder
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Clotting disorder
  • Previous pregnancy loss
  • Incompetent cervix
  • Weight loss surgery
  • Obesity

You may also be considered high-risk if you have a sexually transmitted disease or are immunocompromised.

To determine if your pregnancy is high-risk, the staff can evaluate your current health, family history, and personal medical history. If you are considered high-risk, the staff takes extra care to monitor and manage your pregnancy with the goal of achieving a healthy, safe delivery.

What can I expect during my initial pregnancy consultation?

During your initial consultation, the team at Complete Healthcare for Women reviews your medical history and current health. If you need to confirm a pregnancy, the staff can provide in-office urine testing and a pelvic exam to determine your expected delivery date.

Depending on your existing health, the providers at Complete Healthcare for Women create a customized care plan that addresses any additional health concerns or high-risk pregnancy factors that can influence the development or delivery of your child.

The staff helps you schedule routine checkups to evaluate the growth of your baby and to monitor your health throughout your pregnancy. As your delivery date nears, they provide necessary resources to ensure you are fully prepared to welcome your baby.

You can also expect to receive nutritional and exercise guidance throughout your pregnancy to ensure you and your baby are healthy and ready for a successful delivery.
